Calculate compound interest, total balance and investment growth over time.
Enter your initial amount, interest rate, compounding frequency and investment period.
ABOUT THIS TOOL
Compound interest is interest calculated on the original principal as well as interest accumulated during previous periods.
Because interest can earn additional interest, compound growth can become increasingly significant over longer periods.
Fashnza's Compound Interest Calculator lets you estimate growth using different compounding frequencies and regular contributions.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Enter your initial principal amount.
Step 2: Enter the annual interest rate.
Step 3: Select how frequently the interest compounds.
Step 4: Enter the number of years.
Step 5: Optionally enter a regular contribution.
Step 6: Click Calculate Compound Interest.
COMPOUND INTEREST FORMULA
The standard compound interest formula is:
A = P(1 + r/n)nt
P is the principal, r is the annual interest rate as a decimal, n is the number of compounding periods per year, and t is the number of years.
The calculator also estimates the effect of regular contributions made according to the selected contribution frequency.
COMPOUNDING
Interest can be compounded annually, semiannually, quarterly, monthly or daily.
When other factors remain the same, more frequent compounding can produce a different final balance because interest is added to the balance more often.
